CUNY and SUNY

I am now studying in NY Touro College (undergraduate) and wanna transfer to SUNY or CUNY.

I want to know,

1) What is the difference between these 2 system (i.e. SUNY and CUNY)?

2) Does it mean that State college must be better than City college? I heard from my friends that, it is better to choose a State college since the degree you hold after you graduate is much better than that in City college.

3) I am now major in business, so which system or which college should i choose?

4) In fact, I prefer studying in NYC since I am now staying with my family in Queens. And I know all the SUNY Colleges are not in the town. That's why I am so confused with it. Can somebody give me the suggestions?

Thank you so much!

Frankly to say I wanna find a college which is near to the town, so that I don't need to live in the school campus. 5) How's Old Westbury College? Is it famous for the business program? or any other suggestions?

1. Technically no. CUNY is for the entire New York City and SUNY is for the entire SUNY.

2. They are the same, which make no difference.

3. It is up to you. Some people choose based on ranking and some people choose based on distance.

4. Here is a list of the mileage from NYC to each SUNY campus. In fact, they are not really far away:

Choose one if you like it.

No school is bad school, only bad students. You have to determine your own if it is a good school.

U.S. News and World Report ranks the SUNY Buffalo as one of the country's best Undergraduate Business Programs in the 2010 edition of “America's Best Colleges.” The school was ranked No. 57, higher than any other business schools in the SUNY system.

1. SUNY is state sponsored while CUNY is NYC sponsored.

2. In the case of New York State, I think the SUNY at Binghamton andSUNY at Stony Brook are better.

3. You should enroll into the College of Business Administration (or equivalent as different schools have different names).

4. CUNY at Baruch and CUNY Queens College are OK. If you can afford private schools, try Columbia, Cooper Union and NYU.
