there is a few things you can do to help, reprogram the puter in it, use synthinc oil in the engine and trans, also if you can afford it replace the O2 sensors, folks don't beleavie that they make a huge diffrence. you can also put in a K&N air filter also.

Hey there, i have a 2000 ford focus. it's around 90000 miles.
i did tune up around 88000, new tires, oil change on every 5000, but i still get poor mpg.
it use up a full tank to run about 220 miles on highway. if i go 330 mile, i need to use one and a half tank of gas.

Thats not that bad, you have to consider how fast you drive on the highway, 55, versus 65 and 75 make a big difference. If you cruise at 75 and higher dont expect great mileage.

You methods of calculating mileage is flawed. You need to come up with a number. You *cannot* get an accurate measure of gas mileage just by going off the gas gauge. You need to record your mileage at evey fill up and record how many gallons of fuel you're putting in. Then divide the miles traveled by the amount of fuel you've put in. This will give you your mileage for that specific tank of fuel. Do this about 3-5 times and then average your results. That will give you a good idea of your real fuel mileage.

if engine runs good, make sure water in radiator gets to operating temp. driving down highway, hotter the water, leaner the mixture

I normally get about 220 miles on my 2007 as well while on the interstate. There are two things you can do to improve your mileage. Keep your foot out of it or get the dealership to reprogram the computer. I know several guys who've had the dealer do the computer solution with moderate success.
