入藉美國, 要交出香港特區護照?

Hi, I got my US citizenship cert. last year, ur answer is ...
1. when u are applying of naturalization, nothing u need to return, just keep ur HKSAR passport, HK ID card and US greencard. after u pass ur naturalization, then u need to attend the oat of ceremony, during that time, u ONLY need to return ur US greencard to the officer, he will give u US citizenship cert. one thing u have to consider, before u get the US citizenship, u are using US greencard + HKSAR passport for travelling. after u get the citizenship, u will be no US greencard to enter USA. So u need to apply the US passport for your future travel. Even u get the US passport, u also can use ur HKID card to enter HK/Macau.
2. everyone if u have HKID card, u can apply HKSAR passport.

when you apply to become USA citizen. by the time you passed the nationlization exam. you do not need to hand out your HKSAR passport. USA grovernment will not care about that.
what about HKSAR offical? well, now you are US citizen, you will use US passport to travel. right?

入籍時不用交回原國護照,移民官也不會向你索取。因為入籍後亦沒有規定你一定要伸請美国passport.有些人終生不出国也不用passport.
所以,决定收回原籍passport的是你的原国籍領事館或香港入境處。
至於能否擁有两個国家的passport,理論上是不可以的, 但一些政府在執行這方面條例時比較寬鬆。不會主動追查。
樓上有網友說得嚴重些了, passport是旅行証件而已, 很多人都只求那种較方便吧!

1. No. People's Republic of China does not recognize dual or multiple nationalities. But it does not mean you have more than 1. Chinese nationality law is set to recognize your nationality as Chinese when you are in Chinese territories. A common example is British National (Overseas) and Portuguese Passport. Many people in Macau and Hong Kong still hold either one. But it does not mean Chinese Government recognize any of them (as they are considered as Chinese citizen).

2. Not applicable as you are not required to. Beside return of HKSAR Passport does not make you renounce your nationality or residency at all (There are formal procedure for renouncing Chinese nationality).

You don't need to hand in your HKSAR passport to USCIS but you need to hand them back to HK Immigration once you granted US Passport.
HONG KONG DO NOT ALLOW DUAL CITIZENSHIP. The only kind of dual citizenship HK allow is Birth Right Citizenship (ie you born with a foreign Citizenship)
In Nationality Law of Hong Kong Resident, a perons who actively seek another citizenship will lose Hong Kong/Chinese Citizenship the day he/she was granted a foreign citizenship. Using HKSAR passport without CHinese Citizenship is a crime, it can be punishable by 2 year imprisonment and 5 years exclusion of entry to HK. If you follow number 2 go will be worse, cos you will also be charged with supplying flase information to obtain travel document, another 5 years of jail

You cannot, you can still hold your Permanent HK ID Card tho, but you cannot apply for another HKSAR passport, to apply a HKSAR Passport, one must be of Chinese Citizens, once you get US Citizens, you will not be Chinese Citizens anymore (quoted before) so you lose te right to obtain HKSAR passport.
NOTE to those who intent to fake his/her way out.
It is now nearly impossible to fake your way out to get HKSAR passport while you hold other passport.

Since the introduce of Biometric Passport, it will record your travel information into the passport, first, you cannot use HKSAR Passpor tto leave HK and use US passport to enter US. As this is illegal in both country. And all immigration status is recorded and will show in either immigration computer, it is very easy to find out.

Yes, Since HK passport is belong to China gov. And China Gov is not allow 2 nationals.

No. HK passport only issue to Chinese national. If you 入藉美國, you are USA national. Therefore, HK gov will not offer hk passport to you.
