Who would you guys rather have: Hanley Ramirez or Chase Utley?

Hanley is a better offensive player who plays a more important position and he's younger than Utley. You swap out Utley for Hanley in the Phillies lineup and he would be the MVP. Now the only knock on Hanley is that he's not as good a fielder and he may not be "giving it his all", if what Dan Uggla said was true. Either way, I would take Hanley any day and if he keeps it up, Red Sox fans would be asking themselves if he was worth Beckett and the 2007 chamionship. Not yet, but Hanley is still only 25 years old, younger than Dustin Pedroia.

Utley is better than Ramirez on defense...BUT you cant really compare the two. The shortstop position is MUCH MUCH harder to play than the 2nd base position.


Offensively, I dont understand how you can not say Ramirez? How is Utlet "slightly better than Ramirez"?

Ramirez is batting like 65 points better than Utley. Chae mite have 7 more homers, but Ramirez gets the job done with 39 doubles and actually have 11 more RBI than Utley(even with a less potent Marlins lineup). And speed factor, Ramirez is much quicker on the basepth than Utley.

Chase Utley could very well end up being the greatest 2nd baseman in the history of baseball from an offensive perspective. And his defense ain't to shabby either! He is as close to "The Natural" as they come.

I'm a Braves fan, and I would pick Utley. Even if he is a Phillie. As a person, I dont like Ramirez.

I pick ramirez because look, he has like what a 360 average, 23 hr and98 rbis and if not for pujols would be nl mvp and is a soon to be in the hall of fame since he is a power hitting ss. Utley has a 295 average and only 87 rbis. ramirez is way more valuable to his team. Phillies have howard and ibanez.
