Can I use my iphone 3GS from France?

I'm going on a trip to France and I'm wondering if I could use my iphone 3gs to upload pictures to my facebook? (without having a sim card? will it work?)

Well it will work without having a sim card
But do not I mean do not insert another sim card except for the one that it had because it will lock it self and you will need to reactivate it....
But you can unlock it so you can use a prepaid sim card from France with your iPhone
