Stem cells are cells that can become any cell in our body, which makes it really special. Stem cells can be totipotent, pluripotent and multipotent. Totipotent means that it can become any kind of cells in our body, pluripotent means it can become almost all kinds of cells in our body while multipotent means it can only become a certin limit of cell type. There is 5 kinds of stem cells, Early embryonic stem cells, Blastocyst embryonic stem cells, fetal stem cells, Umbilical cord stem cells and adult stem cells. Early embryonic stem cell is the only totipotent, while blastocyst embryonic stem cells and fetal stem cells are pluripotent, and lastly, umbilical cord stem cells and adult stem cells are the only multipotent.

Stem cells has many fuction, it can cure diseases, such as Leukemia. Leukemia is a cancer of white blood cells or leukocytes. The way to treat leukemia is chemotherapy. But some times, whenchemotherapy cant cure the patient, the ywill us bone marrow translpant. Patient's existing abnormalities are first killed. Samples, donor bone marrow introduced into the patient's bloodstream. Stem cell can also become any kind of cell, well depends on what type of stem cell it is, as stem cell is categorized in three groups. Human bodies also wouldnt reject the stem cell, which is also a good part. It is also able to store in a cord blood bank, which is more convinient.
