What is being done to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?

To clarify, I am asking about cleaning it up, as in removing the trash. Elimination of the GPGP would require government action of some sort to control the source of the pollution.
更新1:

I know that there are a number of different groups studying the GPGP, but what is being done to eliminate it? Governments are not likely to spend their own money to clean it up. They will likely say that they didn't cause it and are not responsible to clean it up. What about groups like Greenpeace, are they doing anything about it?

更新2:

There is actually a large potential for profit in the clean-up. There estimates that state there is around 100 million tons of debris, most of which is plastic. If they researchers do find a way to decontaminate the plastic it can be recycled. I think that this is a large enough supply to catch the attention of the large recycling companies of the world.

Why, where's the profit in doing that? Who's going to pay for it?
