i'm trying to close out my capital one card and pay off the balance
when i called they said the only account i can use to pay off my balance is my credit union account

i don't use that account anymore i use a bank and i tried to give them the numbers to the debit card for that bank

they refused to take it saying the only way they can accept a payment is from the credit union bank account and until i can submit a payment from there i have to keep the card active and pay interest.

that account isn't open!
what do i do i need to get that paid off because i just got approved for a car loan with AMAZING interest and stuff but you can have any cc bills to do that loan but if i can pay if off i can bring the car home tomorrow

Personally, I'd go into the bank you currently use with the last bill and pay it off. If you are trying to close the account, write a letter to the the credit card company asking them to close the account and fax it - along with the proof of payment, retaining the proof of fax, or if it's through a bank go in and close it and ask for confirmation that you closed it.

I would then take that payment receipt and stamp to the loans company to show them the bill is paid in full as well as the proof that you closed the credit card.

Apparently you set up the online account at Capital One with the credit union account and would have to do something to change or add the bank.

But instead of beating your head against the wall, how about just writing a good old paper check and mailing it to Capital One. That would take care of paying the bill.

If you want to pay bills online, I suggest you check your banks online billpay. Most banks offer it for free. You can schedule payment of all your bills and even set up recurring payments for things like rent or car payments. Yet you maintain complete control over the payments and can stop or change payments up to a couple days before the due date.

Capital One will not take a payment directly from your bank account (ie e-check or debit). They will, however, allow for a money order, wired money, cashier's check, etc to be paid at one of their companies who will accept payments on their behalf. You can log on and make a payment online if you have online access. This will post usually within 2-5 business days.

Sorry about the car loan, but it may be a blessing in disguise. Diving deeper into debt (especially after a payoff) is never a good thing for the debtor. Only the bank wins. The interest is only "amazing" to the receiver of the interest money.
