The government plans to build a large housing estate in a new town.The estate will have twelve 36-storey buildings with 18 units on each floor.According to the Census,we can estimate the average number of inhabitants in each unit to be 2.43.Find the number of inhabitants this estate will have,round off the answer correct to the nearest ten thousand.

1.)
Y=9X/25
Y=9X/25 *100%
Y=36%X
∴Y is 36% of X.

2.)
Cakes sold today: 250*(1-10%)=250*0.9=215
Bread sold today: 400*(1+15%)=400*1.15=460
∴Number of cakes and bread sold: 215+460 = 675

3.)
Number of units in ONE building: 18*36 = 648
Number of units in the WHOLE estate: 648 *12 = 7776
∵ There are 2.43 people in ONE UNIT.
∴ Total number of inhabitants:
7776*2.43
=18895.68
∴There are 20000 inhabitants.
