How can I conquer my social fear?

Sorry, I forgot the term for "social fear", but you know what I mean, like the fear to socialise with other people (easily embarassed, introvertted etc.) Please give me the term.

Anyway, I scare to look at someone in the eyes, and i feel very embarrassed if I sit opposite to a stranger on a bus or train(face to face direction), I dono where I can look! And if a bunch of crowd sitting in front of me, facing my direction, I would be very embarassed too. Also...I scare to summon a waiter in the restaurant, its embarassing if the waiter cannot hear me and ignore me, and I scare to yell aloud at public area, like just calling someone for attention.

Please tell me what to do!...its very painful...

Make yourself feel more free out to the world. Relax. Just think nothing bad is gonna happen to you. Just ignore them.

I suggest joining N/A. It's free.

Start joining an N/A(Neurotics Anonymous) group. There, they'll help you out very well. EVERY person that joined N/A and were commited to recover from Mental/Emotional illness, got better. Many people have recovered from there illness. Thousands have recovered. Depends on you how you are, it may take you a short time or a really long time for you to start changing. In N/A you must admit you're a neurotic, and admit and recognize your mistakes. It's very important you talk/express your feelings about your troubles and say it all. Remember, the people in N/A can't go on around town saying about your problems and other stuff. Whatever is said in N/A, stays in N/A. I suggest you go to N/A for 1 week just to check it out. Got questions or concerns about N/A, E-mail me about it.

Sounds like you have a social anxiety disorder. It's quite common particularly with teens and young adults.
A psychologist (therapist) can help you manage your anxiety and learn skills to help you socialize better through cognitive behavior therapy. In simple terms this means they help you by looking at how your thoughts (which may be misguided) affect your actions and how actions affect your thoughts. Over time you will become more confident in social situations and your anxiety will reduce.

I thought I was alone. I have my friends order for me at restaurants sometimes, or have them make phone calls for me, etc. I CANNOT STAND IT. So basically, I don't have an answer for you...just here to say I'm with you, and will definitely be watching this question for answers.

The best solution for your phobia is to get professional help. There are people trained to help you fight your fear of large crowds and socializing with others. Make sure you are heavily committed in getting over your phobia as well! Also you may have what is called Social Phobia- Fear of being evaluated negatively in social situations.
