Please help me to solve problems of the following sentences,

我想有真正英文好的人解答一下. thanks a lot!!

1.)He was very real with me off the bat.

我不明白甚麼是'' off the bat''...

2.)It levelled tens of thousands of homes .

甚麼是 '' tens of thousands'' ??

3.) Do you mind my asking you?
為什麼用 ''my'' 唔用 ''I'' ??

１）
off the bat或right off the bat是一句諺語，其意是：立刻，毫不猶豫
如：You can't expect to be accepted in a new town right/straight off the bat.

２）
thousand是千，而ten thousand是萬，
所以，tens of thousands即”數以萬計”
３）這是因為動名詞意思上的主詞，是用所有格帶出，如：
　　He insisted on my going there.（不用I, 而用my)
但有一點要留意，若主句主詞與動名詞意思上的主詞是一樣，則我們可以不用所有格帶出，如：
He insisted on going there.（沒有his，或說his可被省略）

對不起，一時想不起，香港也有不少中學是以英文教文法的

動名詞的英文是：gerund

而所有格是：possessive case或稱genitive case，即my, your, his, her, their，或Peter's等
