What does this symbol mean? (Either Japanese or Chinese)?

I saw it in a picture that I found on my computer. It's an old friend of mine that I don't have contact with anymore. I don't know what it means, or if it means something perverted or not. I was just wondering.
Is it japanese or chinese, and what does it mean???

姉 [is an alternate form of 姊 in Ancient Chinese, see below] = Ancient Chinese = Modern Japanese for "Older sister". 姊 = "Older sister" when put together with 妹 to mean a part of "sisters" in Chinese. 姐 = "Older sister" in Chinese, used alone or as an alternate to 姊 when put together with 妹 to mean a part of "sisters" in Modern Chinese. 妹 = Chinese & Japanese for "Younger sister".
