Hi,

For this question, let's add 1 and subtract 'b' from both sides of the equation to get:

3b = 1

Now, divide both sides of the equation by 3 to get:

b = 1/3

At this point, you want to find 24b which equals [24][1/3] = 8 = 24b.

FINAL ANSWER: 24b = 8

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

4b - 1 = b
moving b from right to left, we have
4b - b = 1
<=> 3b = 1
left hand and right hand side of the equation divided by 3 is
b = 1/3
left hand and right hand side of the equation multiplied with 24 makes
24b = 24.1/3 = 8

4b - 1 = b

Begin the process of solving for b.

4b - 1 - b = b - b

3b - 1 = 0

3b - 1 + 1 = 0 + 1

3b = 1

Now, you could solve for b, but since your objective is to find 24b, why not just multiply both sides by 8

8*(3b) = 8*(1)
24b = 8

-3z - 1 = 8 - 3z 0z = 9. no solution. 1/12(48 + 24b) = 2(17 - 4b) 4 + 2b = 34 - 8b 10b = 30 b = 3.

4b - 1 = b
4b - b = 1
3b = 1

24b = 8(3b)

3b = 1
8(3b) = 8(1)
24b = 8

4b-1=b
24b=?

First we will work with 4b-1=b since it only has one unknown.
Point is, to get rid of something on one side, we do the same to the other side of the equation.

4b-1=b
4b-1-b=b -b
4b-1-b=0
3b-1+1=0+1
3b=1

Now we use the other equation, 24b=? and we know that 3b=1.
3b=1
24b=8

Hence the answer is 8

If 4b-1=b, than you have to put the number on one side and the letter in the other. Thus, the b from the right side has swapped sides, so it must change signs, and the 1 must also change signs, making it positive 1.
You end up with 3b=1
3b goes 8 times into 24b, so you multiply 1 by 8, so the answer is 24b=8

Algebra Rule #1 is that "anything added or subtracted or multiplied or divided from both sides of an equation does not change the answer".

4b - 1 = b
4b - b - 1 = b - b
3b - 1 = 0
3b - 1 + 1 = 0 + 1
3b = 1
(1/3)*3b = (1/3)*1
b = 1/3

PROOF

4*(1/3) - 1 = 1/3
4/3 - 3/3 = 1/3
1/3 = 1/3

if b = 1/3, then 24 b = (24)*(1/3)b = (24/3)b = 8b
