christian people, what do you think was going through the minds of your ancestors when...?

they were killing the native americans or when they made them do the walk of death to a "reservation"?
the question sounds cruel, but the fact is, it happened, and i want to know what you think your ancestors were thinking. just trying to get their frame of mind based on your collective thoughts.

They thought they were doing it for the "greater good", -eminent domain kind of thingy.

But my near-christian ancestors emmigrated here in the 1920's.

But for a lot of folks, christianity is only practiced when it's convenient, like Sunday mornings or petting little doggies.

They were closed minded and ignorant of the scriptures. They followed their religious & political leaders like many do today. They live by the slogan; my religion / country, right or wrong.

Evil is never done so cheerfully than by people who think that god is on their side.

I could care less what they thought, I can't vouch for people who I've never met, regardless if they're related to me.

Since I am NOT psychic...I have no idea what anyone else is thinking. Nor do I understand why it would even matter.

What was going through your mind when you asked this question?

I'll tell you first hand what my people thought. It taught us a good lesson of kill or be killed. The christian settlers were not religious spiritual people they were mass murderers, liars and thieves.

Look at some of your answers. They could not care less how many non Christians they murder. But what can you expect from the heirs of liars murders and thieves, except more of the same. The USA government still has not honored the promises made to the native americans. They have no honor and are not genuine in any way. They are the real wolves in sheep's clothing. Greedy, egotistical and arrogant the lot of them.

That is how we know they are all liars and not to be trusted. Christianity is Mithra wearing a new name in any case. They would not know how to be honest if their lives depended on it. They are certainly not qualifying for their heaven in any way shape or form.

If you are trying to confirm the cruelty of men, then don't stop there. There are so many examples of men doing the wrong thing that the world itself could not contain the books that could be written. Native Americans killing each other regularly just because they wanted the land their neighbor was on for the hunting rights; slavery; abortion....the list goes on and on.
So, what do I think they were thing? I think they wanted what they wanted. I think some would have been uncomfortable with the hardness of men's hearts, but did not speak up out of fear of being labeled soft and weak. I think they followed their leaders, just as we do today, even though we know they are very wrong about many decisions they make for the majority. I do not want to nor do I think it is moral or right or fair that I (as a dissenter) should have to help pay for abortions, but my current leader is "forcing" me to do that which I am certain is murder. Should I not have a choice in this? Well, I don't if his "health" plan gets passed, which I'm fairly sure it will be. If my wife needs life saving surgery, after a lifetime of paying taxes, too bad....she'll be sent home on pills because she is no longer "worthy" of help. But, just like you, I'll be FORCED to march along anyway.

not christian people.... white people.

Christians are not saints. They're just sinners who are forgiven by the grace of God.

It's called the trail of tears, not the walk of death.

You make it sound like it was so worse compared to what the Native Americans were doing to the whites as well. Or even yet you make it sound like what the whites were doing to the Native Americans is any worse then what they were doing to the Africans and Asians as well.

Colonizing and conquering were their goal. They accomplished it.

It is well known that the prevailing thinking of the time was one of "manifest destiny". One does not have to speculate.

native americans, pagans...., different, fear/not giving a darn except for their own little interests, killing/imposing self above all, no remorse/as if the most natural thing to do

-- it's what happens, isn't it??
used to happen.. and people still think it's 'normal' to continue the murderous spree, as i see.

yeah!, hurray for those brave colonizers!! how mighty they were against the children of the land ;)

..... all in the name of money, self-righteousness, and a lil' bit of religion (imposed onto others, of course). Where would be the fun if not for these?!

As far as I know, none of my ancestors ever went to North America. I know that some of them were crazy Scottish mercenaries though. I wouldn't have a clue what they were thinking. Perhaps they wished they had something on under their kilts.

If I call myself a doctor and proceed to act in a most un-doctorly way, does that mean that medecine is a sham?
Those people called themselves 'christian' but in truth, they were the farthest thing from a genuine christian.
It was just a word they enjoyed applying to themselves.
They did not let themselves be guided by Christian principles.
