k + (1/2)k - 1 = 4/5

2k/2 + k/2 = 4/5 + 5/5

3k/2 = 9/5

3k = 18/5

k = 18/15

k = 6/5

k = 1.2

i get the same answer also.

im sorrie!i've got the same answer as you!
2009-08-06 4:51 pm
k + 1/2(k) - 1 = 4/5
k + k/2 = 1 + 4/5
2(k + k/2) = 2(5/5 + 4/5)
2(k) + 2(k/2) = 2(9/5)
2k + k = 18/5
3k = 18/5
k = (18/5)/3
k = (18/5)(1/3)
k = 6/5 (1.2)

that was very close. I tis actually quite easy! you get the 2.5 by I/2ing the K-1+4/5, which is 0.5, then times it by optimus prime to get 5, and then times that by a further 100 to get 500, then realise you don't have a clue and guess!

1.2 is correct

I also get 6/5, or 1.2. There is a possibility that there is a misprint, that we are both wrong, or that you have miscopied the problem. All three of those things are likely.
