f (x) = x³
f (-7) = (-7)³ = -343

f ( x ) = x^3

f ( - 7 ) = ( - 7 )^3

f ( - 7 ) = - 343

You can think about a function as a sort of "magic box". If I put a number inside this magic box, and then take it out, I'll get a different number. The right-hand side of a function (x^3 in this case) describes the change the number went through.

For example, if my function was f(x) = x + 2, then if I put, say, 3 inside this magic box, it will come out as 5, since 3+2 = 5.

The function you have here is f(x) = x^3, so whatever number you put through it, it will come out cubed. When you plug in -7, you get (-7)^3 = -7 * -7 * -7 = -343.

x= -7
f(-7)= -5040
x^3= -343

then

f(x)= 1728720

f(x) = x^3
f(-7) = (-7)^3
f(-7) = (-7)(-7)(-7)
f(-7) = (49)(-7)
f(-7) = -343

-343

good luck

-343, but you might want to go over algebra function concepts again - this looks more like a demo example than a problem.

replace x with -7

f(-7) = (-7)^3
f(-7) = -343

-49 times 7
