Hi,

For this question, subtract 1 from both sides of the equation to get:

-2e^x = -6

Now, divide both sides by -2 to get:

e^x = 3

Finally, take the natural log of both sides of the equation to get:

xln(e) = ln(3)

However, you should recall that ln(e) = 1 and therefore we find that x = ln(3).

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

1 - 2e^x = -5
2e^x = 1 - (-5)
2e^x = 1 + 5
e^x = 6/2
x = ln(3)

1-2e^x = -5
-2e^x = -6
e^x = 3
ln(3) = x
