first change the given to similar fractions (get their LCD's)
1/4 + 1/9
9 /36 + 4/36
then add
and the answer is 13/36

Get the LCD of the fractions. Break the numbers to their prime factors.

4 = 2 x 2
9 = 3 x 3

Since there are no identical numbers in a column, multiply them just like that. 3 x 3 x 2 x 2 = 36

36 if our LCD. To convert the fractions into similar, divide the LCD by the previous denominators and multiply it by the numerators.
36 / 4 = 9 * 1 = 9/36
36 / 9 = 4 * 1 = 4/36

9/36 + 4/36 = 13/36

Hope this helps.

The least common denominator is: 4 x 9 = 36

1/4 + 1/9 = (9/9)(1/4) + (4/4)(1/9)
= 9/36 + 4/36
= (9+4)/36
= 13/36

13/36 or .3611111

find a common denominator. in this case 36. multiply the top of 1/4 by 9 and the bottom by 9, making it 9/36. then, take 1/9 and multiply the top by 4 and the bottom by 4, making it 4/36. then, add the tops. it comes to 13/36.
參考: i did this in my head and you can too:) hope i helped a little bit:)

Not difficult.. just takes some time to get used to how to do them..
I wanna make these in steps so you know how to do them :D

First, try to get the denominators(bottom part of the fraction) to be equal to each other by their multiples. In this case, 1/4 and 1/9 will be #/36 and #/36. 36 because that's the least common multiple of 4 and 9. Now you gotta multiple the same number that you multiplied from the bottom to the top. So for the first #/36 (which was originally 1/4) 4 * 9 = 36. So you multiple the top by 9, making it 9. So the first set of fractions is 9/36. You do the second one the same what. 9 * 4 = 36. So you multiply 1 by 4 and get 4/36

now you get 9/36 + 4/36 getting you the answer 13/36

1/4 + 1/9 = x
LCM of 4 and 9 is 36, 36 / 4 = 9 and 36 / 9 = 4, so
1*9 = 9, and 1*4 = 4
9/36
+
4/36
=
13/36

Simply cross multiply:

1/4 + 1/9
(1/4 x 9) + (1/9 x 4)
9/36 + 4/36
= 13/36

Find the LCM (least common multiple) of 4 and 9.
4 = 2 x 2
9 = ...........3 x 3
------------------------------
...= 2 x 2 x 3 x 3
...= 36

1/4 = (1 x 9)/(4 x 9) = 9/36
1/9 = (1 x 4)/(9 x 4) = 4/36

1/4 + 1/9
= 9/36 + 4/36
= 13/36
