✔ 最佳答案
5(x + 4) = 7(x - 2)

5(x) + 5(4) = 7(x) - 7(2)

5x + 20 = 7x - 14

5x - 7x = -20 - 14

-2x = -34

x = -34/(-2)

x = 17

5 x + 20 = 7 x - 14
34 = 2 x
x = 17

5(x+4)=7(x-2)

first expand your brackets

5x+20=7x-14

-5x from both sides to get your x's on the same side

20=2x-14

+14 to get the numbers on the same side

34=2x

divide both sides by 2

17=x

my teacher always told me what you do to one side you have to do to the other, hope it helps.

5(x+4)=7(x-2) first distribute 5 and 7 into the parenthesis by multiplying evey thing inside the parenthesis by the nubeer outside.

so....(5x+20)=(7x-14) then isolate x, by adding 14 to both sides and subtractin 5x from both sides

so...34=2x, because 14+20=34 and 7x-5x=2x

then divide both sides by 2 so....17=x

5(x+4)=7(x-2)
expand:
5x+20=7x-14
then move all the xs to one side (remember that when they move across the =, they become opposite to what they were so + turns into -) so 7x-5x :
20=2x-14
move all the numbers to one side, so 20 + 14:
34=2x
then make divide by 2 to get one x
17=x

there you go :)

here is the answer:

5 (x+ 4) = 7 (x-2)
5x + 20 = 7x - 14
25x = -7x
25x-7x = 18x

answer is 18x

first you have to expand the equation by multiplying the number outside the parentheses with BOTH numbers inside.
5x+20 = 7x -14
add 14 to both sides, so now it's 5x+34 =7x
subtract 5x from both sides, so u have 34=2x
divide both sides by 2, so u have 17=x
u can check ur answer by putting 17 in for x into the equation.
