這句文法有錯嗎(口語) is make sure you

I know, I know! A major difference between verbal English and written English is the showing of puntuations. One common problem in transcribing spoken language, in English as well as in others, is the inabililty to put down the punctuations correctly. Taking your sentence as an example:

You may have heard:
The first thing you want to do is make sure you buy the right size.

But what you need to transcribe is:
The first thing you want to do is "make sure you buy the right size".

I would bet, if you rewind and listen to the tape again, you will "feel" a tiny pause in between the "is" and the "make ..." Sometims, it may be indicated by higher pitch with "is" intead.

My mom told me that this is how more cues can be pass along by spoken languages than written ones.

Now, everyone, follow me, say "ahhhhh..."

原句應該是

沒什麼關係.

這樣講應該比較清楚 -- The first thing you want to do is X -- 把 X 換成該做的事 -- make sure you buy the right size -- 就變成原句了.

和國中三年級學的關代
All (that) we do every day is study.
完全相同，is 後的原形動詞study代表事實。

"The first thing you want to do is make sure you buy the right size."

The sentence is grammatically correct.

With that said, It's more common to use "Ascertain", "Ensure" in written articles.

感覺上 is make 中間要加 to... 可是口語上又覺得沒有關係

第二段因為是考你的英文聽力，所以用的詞彙比較口語化，因為不是在考你的閱讀能力，所以他用的詞彙比較簡單。
