Before you answer, consider whether you believe atheism to be. Is it

a, A lack of Creator God/gods in the Universe
b, Scientific evidence of anything being the only kind of evidence that can be used to verify anything
c, A total lack of any supernatural entities/occurrences.

A Brief summary if you can would be AWESOME!

Hey Goodlooking,

I've always said an Absence of Spirituality is in itself a form of Spirituality. I'd consider it a Spirituality (where each has their own code of functioning morals) rather than a Religion.

Atheists in the household here disagrees...

[Later: Really guesses what's the definition of Religion one's using. Technically most definitions I've heard would suggest that Buddhism was not a Religion.

Atheism has no Dogma - but there are many Religions without Dogma. I know some people can be Religious without being Spiritual and others can be Spiritual without being Religious - well that's why I'd suggest it's more a form of Spirituality than anything else.

I'd suggest the fact that it is a strong individualistic perspectives - in that aspect it is similar to Paganism. After all you ask 5 Atheists about their Atheism & you'll get 7+ different answers..]

Calling Atheism a religion is like calling bald a hair color.

Only for governmental rights and the like.

Beyond that, no/

Atheism is nothing more but the lack of a belief in any god or deity. Nothing more.

If you call atheism a religion, then those who don't practice to become an athlete are professionals at the sport of non-athleticism. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

No.

Should theism be a religion? No. Theism is not a religion. Atheism is not a religion.

Atheism is the lack of belief in any deities. That is it.

Atheism is simply a lack of belief in any gods, creator or otherwise.

By definition, atheism is A. Anything else a person believes has no bearing on whether they are an atheist or not.

I suggest that you pick up a dictionary and look up the words "atheist" and "religion".

Atheism is a noun. It describes someone who isn't a theist. It's not a philosophy.

"c, A total lack of any supernatural entities/occurrences."

If you have a concise record of EVERY occurrence of everything that has ever happened in the history of the world, including before recorded history, you've really got something.

If not, your entire argument shipwrecks right there.

nah..
it basically means not believing in anything.
not believing=no religion

Yes, worshiping of the self.

Yes because it is what they believe in and put their faith in.

They also try to convert others into their Religion.

Not a religion. No God(s), no worship = no religion.

"Should atheism be considered a religion?"
