3x + 5 = 10

start by subtracting 5 from both sides:
3x + 5 - 5 = 10 - 5
3x = 5

now, divide each side by 3:
3x/3 = 5/3
x = 5/3

hope this helps(:

First, you have to get the variables on one side.
So you need to subtract five from each side so that the 'x' is by itself.
Then, you're left with 3x=5.
Since you still need to isolate 'x', you need to divide by three on both sides.
Once you do that, you're left with x=5/3

Overall, your steps will look like this:

3x+5=10 (subtract five)
3x=5 (divide by three)
x=5/3

( 2 + 3 ) x 5 - 10 =

Do this:

1. 3x+5-5=10
2. 3x + 0
3. 10-5=5.
4. 3x divided by 3. (3/3)
5. 10 divided by 3. (5/3)
6. 3 divided by 3 = 1
7. 5 divided by 3 = 1.67.
8. 3x divided by 3 = x, 5 divided by 3 = 1.67.

x = 1.67

Check: 1.67 times 3 = 5 + 5 = 10.

Another way to do this is:

1. 10 - 5 = 5 (subtract/add the total by what you are adding/subtracting).
2. 3 times 1.65 seems the closest to 5 (3 times 1.5 = 4.95).
! I rounded it in my mind, but if you need a calculator, try multiplying with a calculator. I recommend using your brain, a way to do this is:
I thought in my mind: 1 times 3 = 3. 65 times 3 = 195. Its decimal-transfer the decimal to two places left. It will give you 3 and 1.95. Adding them is fairly easy-the answer results in 4.95.
This is my way of mental thinking, I did notice its not that common.
THIS METHOD IS ONLY FOR ROUNDING! TRY ROUNDING EVEN BETTER!

Another way would be:
Isolating the equation. 3x+5=10.
Transfer the 5 on he 10's side.
Change the sign when transferring.
Original # = +5. When transferred = -5.
10 - 5 = 5.
3x = 5.
3x divided by 3 = 1.
5 divided by 3 = 1.67.
A = 1.67.

Good Luck! Hope it helped!

3x + 5 = 10
3x = 10 - 5
x = 5/3

... this is really easy

3x + 5= 10
3x +5 -5 = 10 -5
3x/3 = 5/3
x = 1.6

3x+5=10
* transpose 5. That means you'll put it on the other side of the equation. When transposing. Change the sign

3x=10 - 5
*Subtract

3x=5
*Divide both sides by the number next to x which is 3

x=5/3

3x=5
x=5/3

place like terms with each other

3x +5 = 10
we subtract 5 from both sides and
changes to
3x = 10 - 5

then 3x = 5
then divide both sides by 3

and u get x = 5/3

Add -5 on both sides.

=> 3x=10-5=5.
=> x=5/3=1.6666
