I would like to self-study English literature starting from this summer
holiday as this subject is not taught in my school .

Therefore , I am now wondering what I should do ?? I haven't got the
foggiest idea about it ! Could anyone who is studying English
Literature tell me what materials / textbooks you use and the way to study it ?

Thx a lot

Personally, I find a wonderful book series, "the Norton Anthology of English Literature". The books collect a great selection of English literature from various time periods. Some friends of mine read the earlier periods first, and worked their way to the contemporary ones. However, my English back then was not as good, and I found reading early English difficult. So I began my exploration at the modern English section first. But my attention has been shifted towards humanities.

I am interested in giving a private tutorial (about 10 lessons) on European humanities, send me an email and we can discuss further. Although humanity studies lack the focus of English literature, I hope you will find something interesting in humanity studies, which help you think about human conditions. When you have some thoughts on human conditions you will benefit even more from studying literature.

Join some book clubs or interest groups may be a plus. Having people with similar interest and greater experience is always helpful. However, I don't know any good book club or interest group in HK since I just returned here from Canada in spring this year.
