In/on/at
A. We use "at" to refer to a place as a point.
E.g.
He has been waiting at the bus stop for 30 minutes.
Peter has been arrested and is now at the police station.
I saw the dog of hers at the junction(十字路口).
At the very beginning, Terry had tried his best and was at his breaking point.
B. We use "on" to refer to a place as a line or a place locating along a line.
E.g.
New York and Washington , D.C. on the east coast of the States.
"Wait for me. I'm on the way to Stanley ."
Shatin is on Shing Mun River .
The independent travellers are now shopping on Nathan Road .
The athlets have got ready on the running tracks.
Also, we use "on" to think of a place as a surface.
E.g.
He loved to hang the pictures to drew on the wall.
Let's meet on the ground floor.
on the disc.
The falling apple gave Isaac Newton a terrific bang(重擊) on the head.
C. We use "in" when we refer to a place of a large area.
E.g.
Terry is being chased by couples of dogs in the stadium.
He must be playing with his bird in the park nearby.
Life is like a maze(迷宮), whick we may sometimes get lost in it.
Peter has been eaten by many Indian tribes in the Amazon Forest .
Also, we use "in", when we refer to something inside a three-dimensional(3D) place.
E.g.
Do you like swimming in the pool?
Someone's locked himself in the toilet.
Three victims died in the accident.
Terry has been drowned in the Indian Ocean .
