What you say is not exactly true, they may only get £ 65,000.00 as a salary but they easily make over £200,000.0 with all of the little perks and added funds that they have access to.
I personally have not seen one MP who is worth even half of that £ 65,000.00.
Plus most of them have second jobs where they can use their influence to acquire for their companies government contracts worth billions and lets not forget their house switching and exemption from capital gains tax that they all abuse.
So don't try to make it sound like these scummy, corrupt MP's are doing us a favour by stealing all of our taxpayers money on the sly while they run our country into the ground.

MPs do NOT actually earn much money - an ordinary MP gets around £65,000, about the same as a police Chief Inspector. Most people in senior positions in business get far more than that.

As far as second homes go, if you are an MP from a constituency a long way from Westminster you cannot do your job properly without a home in each location. Quite rightly, an allowance is available to allow them a second home. That is not the issue that has been causing the problems for them.

It has been the gross abuse of the system and the "flipping" of the homes to avoid capital gains tax when they are sold, amongst other things.

The whole system is being reviewed - for my money, I would fix an ordinary MP's wages at that of a Crown Court judge and provide either hotel accommodation or a government-owned flat as their London abode.

MPs don't make that much money.

For some reason people think you can get rich working in gov't.

If you want to make real money, go work in the private sector.

I believe nobody will complain his or her money is too much.

They don't, neither do town councillors, alot of the jobs that are handed out are pointless.
I know someone who worked for a council and they said to me, "do you know why they are all tossers at the top, its because they were useless at their jobs and they only way to get rid of them was to promote them !"
Well so basically that means that anyone who is good at their job stays where they are, anyone who is crap at their job ends up running a council or becoming an MP, hence why the country is in the state it is in !!!!

The whole financial system adopted by parliamentarians was hidden from the public gaze for too many years.
Yes perhaps MP,s salary should be reviewed, but what happened was , that they took full advantage of the tax-payers pot and helped themselves through expenses to a life of luxury.
When this milking system was exposed, they still tried to prevent the full exposure of their expenses to be made public. That in my opinion was an own goal.
Greed is man's down fall, it exists in many financial establishment including the government.
Pay them a fair salary without all the unnecessary extras.Let them claim what is justified and in connection with their duties and than perhaps we won't find our-self talking about dishonest parliamentarians again.

Those that needed it did so because they needed a place to live near Westminster in addition to one in their parliamentary seat.

There were some however who did abuse the system, having second homes owned by companies they ran, or no where near Westminster.
