a² - 2ab - b² = 0
a² - ab = b² + (- b)²
a² - ab = b² + b²
(a - b)² = 2b²
a - b = +/- 1.4142135b

= a - b - 1.4142135b, = a - 2.4142135b
= a - b + 1.4142135b, = a + 0.4142135b

Answer: (a - 2.4142135b)(a + 0.4142135b)

Proof:
= (a - 2.4142135b)(a + 0.4142135b)
= a² + 0.4142135ab - 2.4142135ab - b²
= a² - 2ab - b²

( b - a )( b - a )

b^2-ab-ab+a^2
a^2-2ab-b^2

a^2 - 2ab - b^2
(cannot be factored)

=(a-b)^2-2b^2=
=(a-b-b\/'2')(a-b+b\/'2)

that is not factorable

hmm, that is easy but I can't remember. Do you subtract 2ab from both sides?
