As a sabermetrician, I say:

OBP is better by far. SLG is better by far. Home runs are better by far.

K/BB, FIP, HR/9.

OBP is the most important offensive statistic, not making outs is the most important thing a batter can do. RBI's are team dependant, a great hitter that has crap players ahead of him will not drive in as many as lousy hitters who have people on base for them all the time. RBI’s is useless. Home runs are at least 1 automatic run, SBs are not.

Win/Loss is useless for a pitcher because it is team dependant, K/BB is a skill a pitcher owns and you want pitchers with true skills, not W/L luck. ERA is very flawed because it is defensive dependant, Fielding Independent Pitching is based on K, HR and BB and is a much better evaluator of a pitchers true talent. HR/9, a pitcher is in total control over home runs allowed, BAA is team dependent.

Offense:
OBP, the true indicator of a hitter's efficiency.

Pitching:
K/BB, it shows how good is his command and his repertoire.

batting average, RBIs, HRs, Win/loss, ERA, batting average against

Pitching
Win/loss
ERA
BAA

Offense
OBP over AVG- because it includes walks
RBI's over SLG- because it is a solid stat that is simpler
SB over HR- because I would rather play small ball then score then wait for someone to slug one out of the park.

Pitching
K/BB over W/L- because it shows how much control the pitcher has and also what if your on a sorry team/ pitch in a hitters park; you will more than likely not have a lot of wins.
FIP over ERA- because it is a true testament to the pitchers skill
OBA over HR/9- because I want to know that my pitchers keep men off base not how many they keep in the park!

Offense.
2009-06-30 3:17 am
OBP over average
RBIs over slugging
Homers over steals
K/BB over W/L
ERA over FIP
BAA over HR/9

Offense:
OBP because you batting average doesnt show walks.
RBIs because it helps the team win
Stolen bases it takes away double play if you use it right

Pitching:
K/BB winn/loses doesnt show the people on base
ERA shows how many runs score on them
batting average because it shows more how many times you can get on base

OBP

win loss
