Here a = 6, b = 5 and c = - 3
D = 5^2 - 4*6*(-3)
= 25 + 72
= 97
x = [(- 5) + - squareroot 97]/12

x = [-b ±√(b^2 - 4ac)]/(2a)

a = 6
b = 5
c = -3

x = [-5 ±√(25 + 72)]/12
x = [-5 ±√97]/12

∴ x = [-5 ±√97]/12

the formula is

roots = ( -b +/- sq root ( b*b - 4ac) ) / 2a

when equation is ax^2 + bx + c

which means the answer is

( -5 +/- sq root ( 5*5 - 4*6*-3) ) / 2*6

which will give irrational numbers , ie decimals whose approximate answers are

1.3 & 0.4
