All 3 players that you mentioned have a no trade clause so it will take some convincing by the part of the GM for them to waive it to make it happen.
Marleau is a great player but he needs to hand that "C" over to Dan Boyle so he can play his game without the pressures of being captain. I don't feel trading Marleau is the answer.
Thornton possesses coveted physical size and ridiculous hockey skills that are rare in the NHL, yet he fails to utilize it to its greatest capacity. Half of me saying trading Thornton would be ideal but the other half says he is the team when you look at it. If only he can just play with that extra "umph" I think you have the JT everyone thought he'd become.
Nabokov is an aging goalie who is on the last leg of his career. He's letting soft goals in and just doesn't have the movements that made him such a great goalie anymore. Nevertheless, the Sharks can't get rid of him because there's nobody ready in the minors and his salary is quite large. He will also become an UFA next season so they will probably keep him one more year.
As for names that have been mentioned, Jonathan Cheechoo is one. His time is up with the team along with his $3.5 million contract. The injuries have slowed him and there's just no room for him in the top 2 lines and Cheech just isn't a 3rd line checker.
Michalek seems like the odd man out in the forward ranks. His name will be dangled out there and i'm sure alot of teams will be interested.
Ehrhoff will also be dangled out there as far as dmen go. He's a bit wild but the guy has a canon of a shot. He just needs to control himself and work on his accuracy.
Surprisingly, it was announced that Ryane Clowe was offered to Toronto and Philly. Ironically, that was the one guy I figured would be the focal point of Doug Wilson to resign. He has that rugged toughness and scoring touch that we needed in the playoffs. But I guess that would be quite a shake up since that was what Doug Wilson was looking to do.
