I swam up until 36-weeks. I had to stop because my tummy was getting too heavy when getting out of the water that I didn't feel safe anymore, though I love how 'light' everything feels in the water and I can get a great workout without feeling pains in my joints, etc. Just be careful when walking poolside, always wear flip-flops when not in water (you never know what kind of bacteria grows on the floor).

Unless your doctor has told you that you're at risk for pre-term labor, you don't have to worry about your water-breaking or getting infection. You do wear a bathing suit and you do wash yourself afterwards, so that should be fine.

Try to go to the pool during "adult swim" hours. One thing I hate at the pools were the kids. It's not their fault they love to play in the pool, but you have to be careful they don't kick you or your baby.

Swim with those floating devices in the beginning (ie. the pool noodles), until you are completely comfortable. That way, if you get tired, you can just relax and float around in the water. Have fun!

Swimming is great exercise for pregnant women. Just don't over do it. Why are you worried about your water breaking? Unless you are at risk for preterm labor swimming shouldn't cause your water to break. In general, once your water has broken, no you shouldn't be in the water b/c you are more prone to infection.

The benefits of swimming during pregnancy

Swimming is great exercise because it uses both large muscle groups (arms and legs). Though low-impact, it provides good cardiovascular benefits and allows expectant women to feel weightless despite the extra pounds added by pregnancy. It also poses a very low risk of injury.

Any type of aerobic exercise helps increase the body's ability to process and use oxygen, which is important for you and your baby. So swimming also improves circulation, increases muscle tone and strength, and builds endurance. If you swim, you'll burn calories, feel less fatigued, sleep better, and cope better with pregnancy's physical and emotional challenges.

I'm 14wks and i went swimming this weekend it was a huge workout but i never felt like i was actually working out..and it was SO much fun!

That should be fine hun,
Swimming is actually a great form of exercise, so i say go for it.
I don't think you'll get an infection or have your water break.
Try it and see but if you still don't feel comfortable then just find another way.
Hope this helps :)

Yeah swimming is fine. Nothing will happen, unless you drown.
