What do Chinese Brides wear?

Modern Chinese city weddings are usually a quick process at the wedding register and the wedding celebrations are held later along with photo shoots.


It is most common for the Groom to wear a suit and the bribe a dress, commonly it is a tradition Chinese red dress. The style of dress will differ from ethnic group to ethnic group. With modern city weddings there is a growing fashion for western style dresses.

It's becoming more and more common for brides to rent a white wedding dress similar to those worn in the US. They will start their reception wearing this dress and later change into a traditional Chinese red dress (qipao).

It depends on the ethnic group as well as how traditional the couple wants to be. More and more couples in metropolitan cities are opting for the white wedding gown/black tux attire. Less and less men wear the traditional Chinese wedding outfit. Many just wear the western suit/tux.

it really depends on what kind of wedding the couple has chosen. if its a chinese wedding then the bride would wear a more traditional gown that is usually a red color. she wears a huge head piece that consists of a cloth that covers the face of the bride. her beauty is not suppose to be shown to anyone else utnil she has completed the tea ceremony.
