Does it help you with your performance or does it actually slow you down?

It depends on the work and the music. If someone is listening to music with lyrics, it could slow them down if they are doing something that requires thinking. I have had that problem before. However, if the music has no lyrics, then it is possible to listen to music and do the work. If the work has nothing to do with thinking, then it is possible to me to listen to anything.

In my opinion I think it helps you with your performance, because when your doing work you get bored sometimes and when you get bored your most likely to get off task, but when you have music on your interested in doing your work more because there is something to get you going. =]

It helps in a way (and it depends of what music you listen to) but you may not get the results you wanted (they depend on you, and, if you are troubled for example, no matter what you won't get any better or worse than you want) In general I think is best to listen to soft classical music, and rest a little and then comeback to work.

It helps me when i'm studying, because whenever I think of the song, I remember some of the stuff during the test!
But that most likely isn't true for most people, cause i'm a little weird.
=D
