x^2 - 8x = 7

add 4^2 to both sides u get:

x^2 - 8x + 16 = 7 + 16

(x - 4)^2 = 23

x - 4 = +/- sqrt(23)

x = 4 +/- sqrt(23)

x^2 = 8x + 7

x^2 - 8x - 7 = 0

Now use the formula for solving a quadratic....

Ans = -b (+-sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) / 2a) to get your 2 values out.

x^2=8x+7

x^2-8x=7

x^2-8x+16 = 7+16

(x-4)^2 = 23

x-4 = +/- sqrt(23)

x = 4 +/- sqrt(23)

assuming xsquare means x^2, x=-8 and 1.

x^2=8x+7
x^2-8x-7=0
(x-8)*(x+1)=0
x-8=0 x+1=0
x=8 x=-1

x=4±√23;
ie, x=8.79 or x= - .79

x^2-8x-7=0
x=[4+&-(16+7)^1/2]=8.7958315 & -0.7958315

the answer isn't confusing, yet first permit's back up and initiate from the beginning up. generally you will settle for an equation to remedy for x. it may be x^2 -12x+35=0 one thank you to remedy this equation is to ingredient it. in case you gain this which you get (x-7)(x-5)=0 Now which you have arrived at those factors, what next? properly, on account that the two factors prolonged mutually equivalent 0, then the two x-7=0, or x-5=0 So x is 7 or 5. it somewhat is your answer . x=7,5

x² = 8x + 7

Move everything to the left side

x² - 8x - 7 = 0

Use quadratic formula to solve for x.

x = x = 4 ±√23

x= 4+/-sqrt23

x^2 = 8x + 7
x^2 - 8x - 7 = 0
x = [-b ±√(b^2 - 4ac)]/(2a)

a = 1
b = -8
c = -7

x = [8 ±√(64 + 28)]/2
x = [8 ±√92]/2
x = [8 ±√(2^2 * 23)]/2
x = [8 ±2√23]/2
x = 4 ±√23

∴ x = 4 ±√23
