4x - 12 = 12 + 2x - 8

2x = 16

x = 8

4(x - 3) = 12 + 2(x - 4)
4x - 12 = 12 + 2x - 8
4x - 2x = 4 + 12
2x = 16
x = 16/2 OR 8

Answer: x = 8

Proof:
4(8 - 3) = 12 + 2(8 - 4)
4(5) = 12 + 2(4)
20 = 12 + 8
20 = 20

2 x = 16
