I need the answer and in depth detail of how the answer was found. I so suck at Algebra. I have already failed this class 3 times. I really gotta get through it this time. Thanks guys for all your help! It is much appreciated!

5x + 6y = 18

Now that u have 2 variables and only one equation, u will not be able to get a value of x or y as an integer or fraction. Instead u can express y in terms of x or x in terms of y.

So, as u are asked to express y; here is the solution.

5x + 6y = 18

Subtracting 5x on both sides to isolate the y-term.

5x + 6y - 5x = 18 - 5x

5x and - 5x will cancel out.

6y = 18 - 5x

Now, we are asked to find the value of y only and not 6y.

So, we divide both sides by 6 to get rid of the coefficient of y i.e., 6.

6y / 6 = 1/6 [18 - 5x]

y = 1/6 [18 - 5x]

or,

y = [18 / 6] - [5x / 6]

y = 3 - 5/6 x

Thats it dear.

5x + 6y = 18
6y = 18 - 5x
y = (18 - 5x)/6
y = 18/6 - 5x/6
y = -5/6(x) + 3

Y=3-5x/6

here is the way you isolate Y 5x + 6y = 18 circulate the 5x to the different element via inverting 6y = 18 - 5x do the comparable with the 6 x y via deviding each little thing via 6 this could appear as if this 6y / 6 = (18 - 5x) /6 all of us comprehend that 6 X Y / 6 is the comparable as in simple terms Y so simplified... y = (18 - 5x) / 6 wish this facilitates.

5x+6y=18
y=(18-5x)/6 (You move the 5x to the other side and divide the whole thing by 6.)
y= -5/6x+3

A new line is a new step (not related to question)

5x + 6y = 18
6y = 18 - 5x
y = 3 - 5x/6

first you need to put it in y=mx+b form
5x+6y=18 you have to isolate the y
6y= -5x+18
6y/6y=-5x/6+18/6 get rid of six by multiplying it, what you do to one side do to the other
y=-5/6x+3

then set x as zero because every y intercept has an x intercept of zero
y=-5/6(0)+3
y=3

i hope this is the correct answer because i actually kinda forgot how to do this and i just had my math exam about 2 days ago. >.<

since theres only 1 equation and 2 variables, im guessing its to rearrange the equation to make it y=something

so

5x+6y=18
6y=18-5x
y=(18-5x)/6

you do 6y=18-5x cuz you subtract 5x from bboth sides. Then you divide 6 by both sides to get Y by itself so it becomes, Y=3-5/6X. I got the 3 by dividing 18 by 6 so thats 3. And i guess thats your answer. You just plug in for X.

to solve this equation 5X +6Y=18 follow these steps:-
=> 6Y=18-5X
=> Y=18-5X/6
=> now take different values of X
=> let us take X=0
SO WE GET Y = 18-5(0)/6 =3
SO Y IS 3 FOR X=0
LIKE THIS PUT VARIOUS VALUES OF X AND YOU CAN GET DIFFERENT VALUES OF X
