How long does it take to die by hanging in rope (strangling)?

it depends on how quickly the pressure is applied and where abouts round the neck the rope is. If the rope is high on the neck a lot of pressure could be taken on the jaw and people have been like that for over 12 minutes and survived. If the rope is putting all the pressure on the windpipe and neck artery, unconcious in about 30 seconds and dead in 2 minutes.
It also depends on a persons weight as to how much pressure there will be.

With suspension hanging, about 30 seconds until unconsciousness, 3-5 minutes till brain death, 20 minutes till the heart stops beating.

You'll be unconscious around 25-30 seconds. Due to blockage of the main artery. Your basically being choked so how long can you last with someone squeezing your throat.
You'll basically become a vegetable in around 3 minutes due to the lack of oxygen/blood to your brain.
In 20 minutes you'll die because your heart will stop.

So give or take 20 minutes.

It depends. The distance in which you drop, and how much you weigh will determine the velocity that you hit by the time you get caught.

Lets say a person weighs 200 lbs, and is falling down at a distance of 20 feet. By the time he/she gets caught, they will probably stay alive for maybe 3 to 4 minutes before strangling to death.

If a person that weighs 250 lbs and is falling at about 50 feet, by the time they get caught, they probably will stay alive for maybe 5 seconds if their neck doesn't snap off. But even after a persons head separates from their body, they still live for about 1 second before their body completely shuts down.

So it depends on the velocity.

see how long that takes
