help me solve -1/5 x – 8 = 4x + 3?

-1/5(x) - 8 = 4x + 3
-x/5 - 8 = 4x + 3
-x/5 - 4x = 8 + 3
x(-1/5 - 4) = 11
x = 11/(-1/5 - 20/5)
x = 11/(-21/5)
x = 11(-5/21)
x = -55/21

I'd do it by trial and improvement. Work your way through 1, using 1 as x and going as far as you can. If that doesn't work, then begin on decimals.

As given , question must be read as :-

(-1/5) x - 8 = 4x + 3

- x - 40 = 20x + 15

- 55 = 21 x

x = - 55 / 21
