Hi,

√18 = √(9*2) = √9√2 = 3√2

√50 = √(25*2) = √25√2 = 5√2

Hence,

√18 - √50 + 4√2

= 3√2 - 5√2 + 4√2

= 2√2

you have to square root every thing thats under the radical
so make facter trees if they don't have a direct one answer

= √(3^2 * 2) - √(5^2 * 2) + 4√2
= √(3^2) * √2 - √(5^2) * √2 + 4√2
= 3 * √2 - 5 * √2 + 4√2
= 3√2 - 5√2 + 4√2
= (3 - 5 + 4)√2
= 2√2

Factor the radicands into powers of primes; take the square roots of the factors.
18 = 2×3²
50 = 2×5²
2 = 2

√18 - √50 + 4√2 = √(3²×2) - √(5²×2) + 4√2
= √3²√2 - √5²√2 + 4√2
= 3√2 - 5√2 + 4√2
= (3-5+4)√2
= 2√2
