IV therapy and IV push are 2 distinct things, so an LPN might be able to do IV therapy (limited ) but not push. Some pushes even need to be done by the MD, PA etc. In Ca, an RN does pushes & the facilties then modulate what drugs they can push & what they can not.
I took the IV therapy course which certifies me to do an IV except for antibiotics. If you are an LPN/LVN, you will have to check with your work facility if you are allowed to do it.
In most states you need to be a Registered Nurse, although I think I have heard some people say that in their state LPNs can do them - but I have not been able to confirm for myself if that is true or not.
