就要探討的是with dread, professional and personal這句，
我們都知professional, personal是形容詞，形容詞有兩種的用法，一種是限定用法(Attributive Use)，如
a brave boy, a pretty girl
一般的形容詞都會放在名詞的前面，但若形容詞有兩、三個並列的時候，有時會將形容詞置於名詞後面，如：
A woman, tall, beautiful, attrative, entered the room.
所以，professional and personal這兩個形容詞都是用來形容dread
The world is flat這本書，參考過一些資料後，是一本講及廿一世紀初全球化的書，將世界喻為”一個公平競爭的比賽場”

所以
But comtemplating the flat world also left me filled with　dread,professional and personal.
可譯為：
然而沉思一個公平競爭的世界，同時使我充滿著職業並個人性的恐懼
