3 balls are chosen from a urn containing 3 red 4 white 5 blue
Let X , Y denote , no of red , white balls chosen resp.
find the Joint pdf of X and Y
I dont understand why ans like this , where the 1/36 comes from ?
1/36 (summation x=1 to 2 )(summation y=1 to 3-x)xy
why x is from 1 to 2
y from 1 to 3-x, not 0 to 3-x ??????????
Another version is f)1,1_+f(1,2)+f(2,1)
=1/36+2/36+2/36
Actually, how to count them?

用hypergeometric distribution
f(x,y,z)
=(3Cx)(4Cy)(5Cz)/(12C3)
=(3Cx)(4Cy)(5Cz)/(12C3)
=3!4!3!9!/12!x!y!z!(3-x)!(4-y)!(5-z)!
=(36)/[55x!y!z!(3-x)!(4-y)!(5-z)!]
The joint distribution of X,Y is
f(x,y)
=summation z=0 to 3-x-y (36)/[55x!y!z!(3-x)!(4-y)!(5-z)!]
=(36/55)(1/x!y!(3-x!)(4-y)!) summation z=0 to 3-x-y 1/[z!(5-z)!]

明顯地,答案和問題是牛頭不搭馬嘴的。
問題要的是PDF,是一個function,
但答案給的是一個數字。
會不會搞錯了第二個問題的答案啊!
