You would break it down into two parenthesis.

After that, you can break it down even further. (Ignore the periods. I use them to separate the numbers).

Separate and set both parenthesis to equal zero.
For the first problem, add six on both sides of the equal mark.
For the second problem, subtract 6 on both sides of the equal mark.
(x - 6) = 0........(x + 6) = 0

It will then equal:
x = 6.......and......x = -6

(x+6)(x-6)

x = -6 or x = 6
