Multiply each parcel from one parenthesis to both parcels of the other, in this fashion: (A+B)(A+C)=A*A + A*B + B*A + B*C

In your case: x*x + x*6 + -4*x + -4*6 =
x² + 6x + -4x + -24 =

Now add or subtract like terms:
x² + (6-4)x + -24 =
x²+2x-24

(x^2)+2x+24

multiply x by x and multiply x by 6.
so you get
x^2 (which means x squared) plus 6x
(x^2)+6x

then multilpy 4 by x and 4 by 6.
so you get
4x+24

then because the x and the 4 in the first bracket is seperated by a minus sign, you have to seperate (x^2)+6x and 4x+24 with a minus sign. Like so,
(x^2)+6x-4x+24

then you simplify by adding like terms. so you add
(+6x) and (-4x)
which equals to
(+2x)

so then the final equation is
(x^2)+2x+24

Qs : (x-4) (x+6)

Step 1: Multiply the 'x' from (x-4) with both the 'x' and '6' from (x+6)
--> therefore you should be getting x^2 + 6x for an answr.

Step 2: Then multiply the '-4' from (x-4) with both the 'x' and '6' from
(x+6)
--> therefore you should be getting -4x - 24 for an answer.

Step 3 : Combine both the answers you got from steps 1 and 2.
--> therefore, getting an answer of:
x^2 + 6x - 4x - 24

Step 4 : Simplify the latest answer you got in step 3.
--> therefore you should get a final answer of x^2 + 2x - 24

You take the first term from the first bracket (x) and multiply it with the first term from the second bracket (x)

x * x = x^2

Then the first term from the first bracket (x) and multiply it with the second term from the second bracket (+6)

x * 6 = 6x

Then the second term from the first bracket (-4) and multiply it with the first term from the second bracket (x)

x * -4 = -4x

And lastly the second term from the first bracket (-4) and the second term from the second bracket (+6)

-4 * +6 = -24

Then we take all the answers,

x^2 + 6x - 4x - 24

And because the 6x and the 4x are to the same power (x^1) we can add them (6x + -4x = 2x) giving:

x^2 + 2x - 24

Ok if its ( A - B ) ( C + D )
then you'd get
AC - BC - BD + AD
OR you can multiply it in this order which will give you the same result,
AC + AD - BC - BD

So for your question it will be X times X - 4X - 4(6) + 6 X = X^2 +2X - 24

As you can see the I multiply the First term in the first bracket (x - 4 ) which is x, by the other first term in the second bracket ( x + 6 ) which is also x, so you get X^2. Then you multiply the second term in the first bracket by the first term in the second bracket, which is ( - 4 ) multiply by x, so you get - 4x.
Then you multiply the second terms in both brackets, which are - 4 and + 6, to get - 24, and then finally you multiply the first term by in the first bracket by the 2nd term in the 2nd bracket to get + 6 x.

Basically you have to multiply all the terms in each bracket by the terms in the other bracket once. You need not follow the order I just did as long as you do not miss out any multiplication or repeat any multiplication.

Alright. here's what you do. to expand these, you need to use the FOIL method. This stands for First, Outter, Inner, Last.
So, step 1 is to multiply the first terms of the binomials:
x*x = x^2
Step 2 is to multiply the outer terms of the binomials (looking at them):
x*6 = 6x
Step 3 is to multiply the inner terms of binomial:
-4*x = -4x
Step 4, the last one, is to multiply the last terms of the binomials:
-4*6 = -24
Then, add these together to get
x^2 + 6x - 4x - 24
then simplify to get
x^2 + 2x - 24
The key is to remeber the FOIL method

Use the acronym f.o.i.l which stands for first, exterior, interior, and final. ( x- 4) ( x - 2) a million) first X * X = x^2 2)exterior x * (-2) = -2x 3) interior x * (-4) = -4x 4) final (-4) * (-2) = 8 combine solutions: x^2 - 2x - 4x + 8 combine like words: x^2 - 6x + 8

Basically its like this in full form:
Xmultipled by x
Then the first x multiplied by 6
Yhen -4 multiplied by 6
Then -4 multiplied by x
This gives x^2 + 2x -24

I'm not good at explaining but I'll do it and hope you can follow it.

(x-4)(x+6) means times brackets by each others.

1. x X x
2. x X 6
3. -4 X x
4. -4 X 6

When we expand we have to do those for things which give us:
x^2+6x-4x-24

Which equals x^2+2x-24

x ² + 2 x - 24
