My Sons room has oriental theme.
do 2 walls a nice vibrant red and the other two a contrast cream colour. Red carpet.
You can purchase a red oriental style oriental bed set in Argos that also comes in cream. Also check out EBay as there are some good curtains and duvet sets oriental style there. My sons was got from Argos and he has curtains to match.
I also got some chinese style paper lantern's and hung them up, also with paintings of japan (from ebay) and some oriental ornaments from the chinese shop.
I also got a lovely Buddha on show and a bonsali tree.

Im learning Japanese so I turned my room into a Japanese orientated room, I have a bamboo shoot in a pretty vase, a bonzai tree. I have calligraphy on the wall, a few posters of scenery in Japan. I have kokeshi dolls which are good to use as ornaments, I bought a cheap lampshade for £5 which was oriental, and a few other small things. Im going to use japanese wood on the floor too when i can afford it. Oh and a Japanese/chinese mirror (just a small one)

and also, buy some incense that they use, it smells lovely and gives the room an oriental feel

Yep.

Paint one wall red.
Then have accents in the room of red, black, jewelled cushions, bedspreads and lampshade.
Couple of pictures on the wall - which can perhaps be downloaded and placed in picture frames that are painted with black laquer.

Some very jewell like coloured organza panels for curtains.

Bobs yer uncle.

keep all furniture simple - simple black would do. Then accent with oriental pieces (ie. cushions, vases, etc.) You can also use plants - orchids, bamboo, bonsai. Check you local chinatown for cheap decorating pieces.

"Oriental" is a loose term. It can mean Japanese,Chinese,Korean....all these are different...Do you know exactly what you want?

For a bedroom I would stay with light colors and pastels.
My favorites are mint green with pink or peach, with small white or yellow accents.

Here are some inexpensive lanterns.

Here are shoji blinds in a variety of colors

If you can spring for a good spread, it makes the room.
