First find numbers that multiply to make 2205. Then keep doing this with each number until you can't find multiples anymore i.e. the numbers are prime:

2205: 451, 5(prime)
451: 11(prime) 41(prime).
So the prime factorization is 5,11,41; 5*11*41 = 2205

2205 = 3 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 7
or
2205 = 3^2 x 5 x 7^2

Here's a method that I have been using since elementary school. You just need to know the first few prime numbers, then test them for divisibility.

just divide the number by the primes starting at 3 (2 obviously wont divide into 2205 as its an odd number)

2205 = 3 x 735

2205 = 3 x 3 x 245

2205 = 3 x 3 x 5 x 49 [changed to 5 when 3 wouldnt divide in]

2205 = 3 x 3 x 5 x 7 x 7 [changed to 7 when 5 wouldnt divide in]

and that is 2205 expressed as a product of prime factors
