i gotta show working out.
if you could so me simple steps on how to factorise.

+ then do these sums.

Factorise 3x - 6

Factorise x(small 2 above x) -2x

Factorising, is essentially taking common components out in order to simplify an answer.

For your first example, factorising is simply taking out a common factor:

=3(x - 2) . The three was common to both terms in the equation

= x(x - 2) Here the x was common to both terms.

1) 3x - 6 = 3(x - 2)

2) x^2 - 2x = x(x - 2)

thats all the workin out that you need

3x - 6 = 3(x - 2)
x^2 - 2x = x(x - 2)

1)3x -6
3(x - 2). Ans.

2) x^2 - 2x
x(x-2). Ans.

Tips:Just expand(opposite of factorise) it out just to make sure it's right.

Factorising basically means take out the things which are common. so in 3x - 6, the common thing is 3, as 3 is in both 3x and 6.
So you take the three out and leave the rest in the brackets = 3(x - 2) (as 3x divided by 3 is x and -6 divided by 3 is -2). To check if you have done it right, multiply the brackets out again, and you should get what you started with e.g. 3 times x = 3x and 3 times -2 is 6.

So the steps you would have to right would be:
3x - 6
3 is common factor
3 (x - 2)

The next one is the same, but with an x instead of a number.
x2 - 2x
x is the common factor and x is in both x2 and - 2x
Take the x out of the equation
x(x - 2)
x2 divided by x is x and -2x divided by x is -2
so the answer is just x(x - 2)

Hope that helps!! =)

Factorising is pretty much putting an equation in brackets for convenience.

1. 3x-6 = 3(x-2)

2. x² - 2x = x(x - 2)

1)
3x - 6
= 3(x) - 3(2)
= 3(x - 2)

2)
x^2 - 2x
= x(x) - x(2)
= x(x - 2)
