Help with easy maths!!!!?
How do you solve this (with working out):
(x-1)divided by 4 = (x+1) divided by 5
thanks

✔ 最佳答案
(x-1)......(x+1)
--------=------------
...4...........5
.5(x-1)=4(x+1)
5x-5=4x+4
5x-4x=4+5
x=9 answer//
(x - 1)/4 = (x + 1)/5
x - 1 = 4[(x + 1)/5]
x - 1 = (4*x + 4*1)/5
x - 1 = (4x + 4)/5
5(x - 1) = 4x + 4
5*x - 5*1 = 4x + 4
5x - 5 = 4x + 4
5x - 4x = 5 + 4
x = 9
X = 9
First put the Equation as a fraction.
Cross Multiply
Then solve the binomials... I can't show the actual work over the computer :X
參考: Took Algebra 4 yrs ago :X
(x-1) / 4 = (x+1) / 5
5(x-1) = 4(x+1) ---->multiplied by 5 on left, multiplied 4 on right
5x-5 = 4x+4 ---->used distributive property
5x = 4x+9 ---->added 5 to both sides
x= 9 ---->subtracted 4x from both sides giving you x= 9
To verify plug in 9 for x which gives you 2 on both sides so you know the answer is then correct because 2 does equal 2.
