3x(2) <---2 is a square

3x(2) +13x - 10 = 0
3x(2) +13x = 10
Dats all I noe. I've tried doing it but i got a different answer than the one stated on the answer sheet.

3x² + 13x - 10 = 0
x² + 13/3x = 10/3
x² + 13/6x = 10/3 + (13/6)²
x² + 13/6x = 120/36 + 169/36
(x + 13/6)² = 289/36
x + 13/6 = 17/36

x = 17/36 - 13/6, x = 4/6, x = 2/3
x = - 17/36 - 13/6, x = - 30/6, x = - 5

Answer: x = 2/3, - 5

Proof (x = 2/3):
3(2/3)² + 13(2/3) = 10
3(4/9) + 26/3 = 10
4/3 + 26/3 = 10
30/3 = 10
10 = 10

Proof (x = - 5):
3(- 5)² + 13(- 5) = 10
3(25) - 65 = 10
75 - 65 = 10
10 = 10

The above solutions are incorrect because of the fact there at the instant are not any powers in this expression. Simplify the equation then remedy by rearranging for the variable: 3x(2) + 13x = 10 6x + 13x = 10 19x = 10 x = 10 / 19 hence not one of the recommendations you have given are outstanding.

x= -2/3 and 5
2009-05-11 10:02 am
3x^2 + 13x - 10 = 0
3x^2 + 15x - 2x - 10 = 0
(3x^2 + 15x) - (2x + 10) = 0
3x(x + 5) - 2(x + 5) = 0
(x + 5)(3x - 2) = 0

x + 5 = 0
x = -5

3x - 2 = 0
3x = 2
x = 2/3

∴ x = -5, 2/3

(3x-2)(x+5)
2009-05-11 10:01 am
(3x^2 + 13x - 10 )/3= x^2 + 13/3x - 10/3 = ( x + 5 )( x - 2/3 )
so x = -5 or x = 2/3

3x^2 + 13x - 10 = 0 => 3X^2 + 15X - 2X - 10 = 0
=> 3X(X+3) - 2(X+3) = 0 => (X+3)(3X-2) = 0
=> X = -3, 2/3

why dont u use the quadratic formula?
2009-05-11 9:56 am
Factorisation.
(3x - 2) (x + 5)

x = 2/3
x = -5.
2009-05-11 9:55 am
( 3x - 2) ( x + 5 ) = 0

x = 2/3 , x = - 5
