what i've tried is off course as a dreessing for my salad or a topping for my rice :D

If it's Kewpie. it tastes like regular mayo. Make some chicken salad or mix with a little sugar and add to some sushi grade chopped scallops and enjoy!

Japanese Mayo... the brand I'm familiar with is Kewpie. It has sort of a sweet a taste to it, plus msg is added.

The way the local restaurant uses it.... mix with soy sauce (and wasabi which is optional) to make a dipping sauce for fried foods.

Also, topped on oysters or clam with a little cheese... sent under the broiler to make a delicious broiled seafood dish. You can do the same with fish filets too. I've been trying to get the local restuarant to show me how they make it. No luck so far, they are very secretive. I guess they don't want people to make it at home... lol

Japanese mayo goes really well with what we call okonomiyaki. It's like a Japanese pancake. It is savory and salty, not the sweet type of pancake. It has a batter filled with flour, eggs, and shredded cabbage. Bacon and other meats are added as well. Try it, it tastes great.

The best way is to mix it with some crab meat and fish roe. Then serve it on cucumber slices or avocado wedges.

I find the mayo goes good with fresh tomatoes, too.

Another thing you can do with it is spread it on salmon filets and grill it. =)

The only time I've had it served was over seafood salads (usually over crab meat). Might be good as a mock alfredo sauce for pasta? I've had a garlic-bread similar thing with spicy mayo, try it baked on french bread maybe?
