The fear of getting struck by lightning while in the shower is based on old houses, where all the water pipes were metal. Back then, there was definitely a chance of getting electrocuted. Now, though, most houses have pvc water lines, which eliminates that problem. Showering during a thunderstorm is completely safe.
probaly not
unless im REALLY SMELLY!
but id probaly stand in the rain to get clean
Yes. Have a few times. Been lucky so far.
you shouldn't take a shower at all
Yes, the odds are heavily in my favor!
No, but I live in the lightening capital of the world. We take all sorts of safety precations during a storm-- electronics are unplugged, no phones, no showers, stay indoors, etc.
I took one during a storm just the other day and thought of that. geuss what? nothing happened lol
I agree with Mel. If you live in older houses, there is a **possibility** of the lightning hitting close to your home and travelling through the pipes. New homes, yes have PVC/PC Pipes now (plastic) so if you live in a newer home, you should be alright showering during a thunderstorm. Just to be on the safe side, I'll wait till the storm is over. I like to be cautious, and half hour isn't going to make much of a difference.
i would because if there was a chance i got ht then owell let fate take contol

It isn't a good idea. I mean, I've done it, of course, but the electricity can zap you if lightening strikes outside and follows the piping and you are in the shower when this happens.
You are taking a risk. Not a huge risk, but one that is definitely a real risk. It is possible to be killed or seriously injured by a nearby lightening strike, simply by taking a shower when there is a lot of lightening outside.
There should be NO fear of being hit by lightening . there are only the odds.
It could happen. There is a chance . Do you feel lucky?
Probably! if i needed to take a shower, i would, who cares if there is a thunderstorm???
I just got out of the shower and I'm still alive. I'm sure you will be too.
My mom always told me not to and wouldn't let me ... but she also wouldn't let me get those little shoes that light up when you walk and step b/c she said she was afraid I would be at the movie theatre and someone would try to steal me and I would run into the woods and they would find me in the woods b/c of my shoes lighting up ... so i say it's safe to take a shower in the thunderstorm. Some people worry too much.
why would you get struck by lightning?
its not like the lightning will come through every roof of all the people having showers, and what about the people that start having a shower then half way through thunder storm starts? then what happens...NOTHING
so yeah i would have a shower with my clothes on. :)
yes i would . but i would not use a cell phone in an elevator during one.
Actually i did use a storm as a shower once, purely because i couldn't be bothered to wait for the water to heat up.
I wouldn't be afraid of getting struck by lightning unless i was in the middle of a field or open area btw.
edit; groovyhotdog; u realise the mental image of a naked female using a thunderstorm as a shower is somewhat overwhelming for someone of the male persuasion like i am?
yeah course ... why is taking a shower in a thunderstorm any different from taking a shower normally???

May as well. If the lightning manages to bust through the walls, ceiling, floor, faucet - wherever - I'm screwed anyway. May as well be shiny and clean when Mother Nature makes me her *****.
